DOT Inspections

Achieving maximum performance out of your truck is admirable, but not without prioritizing safety first. At Alliant Power in Windsor, Wisconsin and Pueblo West, Colorado, we offer extensive DOT inspection services to help keep your truck safe on the road and in compliance with state regulations.

Our Wisconsin Location’s DOT Inspection Service

Passing the CDL skills test is an essential requirement for all commercial operators with a vehicle registered in Wisconsin. The test consists of three segments: vehicle inspection, basic control skills (backing), and road tests. All segments must be passed within 180 days of obtaining a CLP. If a permit is renewed, all segments previously passed will be void and must be retaken.

Vehicle Inspection Tests

The vehicle inspection test can be daunting, but our experienced examiners will guide you through the process. You will need to point out rig components and explain what you are checking and why—don’t worry; we won’t make you crawl under your vehicle.

The basic control skills test requires you to demonstrate your backing skills. This test consists of three maneuvers: straight line backing, offset right or left backing, and alley dock backing. We will provide you with all the necessary information to help you pass this segment.

The road test is conducted on streets and requires you to demonstrate your skills in normal traffic situations such as turns, intersections, lane changes, stop/start, etc. Our examiners will be with you every step of the way to ensure you have the best chance of success.

Our Colorado Location’s DOT Inspection Services

During a Colorado DOT inspection, our certified technicians thoroughly inspect the vehicle to ensure compliance with all applicable federal regulations. This includes a comprehensive examination of the braking system, steering and suspension components, tires and wheels, lights and electrical system, fuel system, exhaust system, and more.

If any issues are found during the inspection, we will provide you with a detailed report of our findings and recommend any necessary repairs to bring your vehicle up to compliance standards. Our goal is to ensure your vehicles are safe, reliable, and in compliance with all federal regulations.
