The Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) Silver State Post 3396 (Sparks, Nevada), known for their unwavering support of veterans in challenging times, had their vital shuttle van sidelined due to engine troubles. But when hope seemed lost, Tim Anderson of T&A Performance, a local family-owned service center, stepped in to volunteer his expertise.

The van was donated from another VFW post a few years back in Betty Nevada, and it had been sitting idle for some time due to mechanical issues. “[The van] needed a lot of work,” explained David Sousa, Quartermaster of VFW Post 3396. “Sadly, the gentleman who planned to fix it passed away, leaving us without a way to continue providing crucial transportation services to our community’s veterans.”

Tim Anderson, determined to get the van back on the road, reached out to Janay Lintz, Business Development Representative at Alliant Power. Having a deep personal connection to the cause – her husband is a Marine Corps veteran – Janay jumped at the chance to help. Quickly working with Alliant Power’s Customer and Technical Support teams and executive leadership, she secured a generous donation of the essential diesel engine parts needed for the overhaul.

“We are incredibly grateful for Alliant Power’s support,” said David Sousa. “This van will be used to transport veterans to appointments, community events, and even deliver food to those in need. It’s a lifeline for many, and thanks to these partnerships, we can continue serving our community with pride.”

This heartwarming story is a testament to the power of community and the dedication of local businesses like T&A Performance and Alliant Power. Their commitment to supporting the VFW’s mission means countless veterans will have access to vital services, reminding them that they are never alone.
